Margaret Brown (Ramsayville) says of Girls Who Chip-
'With all the bad publicity being circulating in the media about breeders and show dogs, we are delighted to see that Girls Who Chip have taken the initiative and are providing a service that is a sure and efficient way of providing evidence of a dogs identity for all health clearances. This service must surely get the thumbs up from all serious dog breeders in Scotland.
Well done Girls and good luck .'
Quote from the Kennel Club website -
'all dog owners and breeders will be required to permanently identify their dogs, via microchip or tattoo, from January 2010, in order to participate in the Kennel Club/British Veterinary Association health schemes for eye disease and hip and elbow dysplasia. These schemes have been in place for many years and give dog owners in relevant breeds the opportunity to test for a number of common disorders; this move is introduced, at the express request of the veterinary profession, to ensure the fairness and accuracy of the results of the schemes.'
